Hello!! I know it has been a few years since I last posted on this blog…
As much “fun” as we had living in the bus-converted RV, we grew tired of the low ceiling, the expense of the old motor, and the high cost of gas to fill the tank… A good friend asked us if we had heard of converting shipping containers into homes, and our sights turned to a whole new adventure!
Thus began the build of our new home – a 640-square-foot castle compared to the 210-square-foot travelling home in which we lived for over three years.
We purchased two 40-foot shipping containers, placed them side by side on cement blocks, cut out most of the centre of both, clipped them together, and built our tiny home inside. A special thank you goes out to Fern’s father, Ron, for helping to clip the containers together and cut some metal… and to my friend and tiny home neighbour, Maria, for helping me hold the windows in place while Fern shimmed the trim. Other than purchasing our gorgeous countertops and having them professionally put in place, we did the work together, Fernand and I, slowly over two years. We love living mortgage-free in our tiny 100% off-grid castle!
We haven’t finished the outside completely, and mainly because we have no clue how. Here are some photos of how we live inside, and what we see from our windows.
