06 Apr You will Soar, Dear Heart, but the Waiting is First
My sweet, youngest granddaughter wants to get going!
At 10 months of age, crawling is simply not her thing, and scooting around on her bottom is okay only for a short time… If she can catch you, she grabs at your legs and makes her intentions known that she should be holding your hands, both hands, while she stomps her track to nowhere. Both hands, because she is scared to let go, yet confident in your strength.
For now, the tiny sweetheart can get so frustrated that she cannot get to wherever she wants to be. One day, just like every mother desires for her child, she will stand on her own, walk, run, and be flitting here and there in typical young girl fashion — be patient, little one… You will soar, dear heart, but the waiting is first!
Hmm…patience is not my strength, neither, and I am definitely an adult. Recently, it feels as if I have been dragging myself around in life circumstances, grabbing at anything that I think may help me get somewhere, anywhere…and yet, seemingly nowhere. Are you there, too.
Isaiah 40: 27-31 says, “Why would you ever complain, … saying, “ God has lost track of me. He doesn’t care what happens to me”? Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening? God doesn’t come and go. God lasts. He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine. He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch His breath. And He knows everything, inside and out. He energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts. For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.” (the Message)
To wait, literally means “to remain stationary in readiness or expectation”. Do I believe that God loves me and has the best in mind for me? Do I want to keep dragging and getting nowhere? Or do I want to really soar with whatever God has in mind for me? How do I wait?
I believe waiting has everything to do with trusting.Trusting in God’s plan for my life. Holding onto Him, because I can be confident in His strength.
Trust the Lord completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge. With every step you take, think about what He wants, and He will help you go the right way.” Proverbs 3:5-6 ERV
I believe that trusting has everything to do with praying. Praying with an open heart and arms ready to pass my cares to Him, and let God take over…
I must remember that God uses my waiting to change me, strengthen me, make me into the best version of me, to be like His Son.
You know that when your faith is tested, you learn to be patient in suffering. If you let that patience work in you, the end result will be good. You will be mature and complete. You will be all that God wants you to be.” James 1:3,4 ERV
My little granddaughter will not be flustered for much longer! Soon enough she will be getting around on her own, starting with one step at a time, but then faster than she may think is possible! But before that happens, she will fall, get bumps and bruises, and have a few cries… thankfully, for her, she has wonderful, loving parents to help and guide her. If she did not have good examples or teachers, she would not learn to walk properly, and in turn, her running ability would be affected, as well.
If I am patient, and let my Father guide me, I will be able to stand firm, walk, run, and soar with His strength!
“Christ is the one who gives me the strength I need to do whatever I must do.” Philippians 4:13 ERV
You will soar, dear heart, but the waiting is first!
